August 19th, 2009

There is no place like home. Every little details that comes with our house is something that we are familiar with, have grown accustom to and this makes our house unique to us. However, not everyone in the house will be a permanent resident of it. Our children who have grown up to be become young adults will definitely leave their comfortable nest to make a living of their own, be it work in another town, collage or experiencing life in a foreign land. However homesick they may become during the first few months of leaving the house, they will grow accustom to their new life and probably would just drop by occasionally to spend some time with their parents.

Parents who go through the phase of loneliness after their children left home is likely to suffer from the empty nest syndrome. Some who are very attached to their children will probably become depressed. This can be equally as bad for families with no siblings or single parents. Different parents may have different ways of reacting with this change. Although loneliness is a feeling that no one can escape during the first phase of this change still there are parents who take things positively. They see the change as an opportunity to enjoy their newly found freedom. Having children can be quite taxing as children will invade your privacy and put the extra load of work you in cleaning and managing their everyday needs. Now that the children has grown into young adults and have left the house to start off on their own parents will find more time to do the things they want and enjoy them.

Parents who think positive about their children leaving home maybe just be a handful. You might find yourself sinking into a pit of emptiness and self-pity.
